BLACKWOOD is a third person action thriller built around a man living two entirely separate lives in a carefully reconstructed version of New York as it looked in 2012. Anton spends his daylight hours behind the counter of a modest DVD rental shop, a quiet and unremarkable business tucked into a city that barely notices him. After dark, that facade falls away and he works as a contract killer, moving through the criminal networks that run beneath the streets. The narrative leans heavily on cinematic presentation, following a man pulled between the instinct to survive, the weight of his own conscience, and a history he has never managed to leave behind. Anton’s story unfolds across three separate Acts, each one a self contained chapter of a larger arc, with additional missions bridging the gaps between them. The tone stays grounded and unglamorous throughout, presenting a cast of damaged, believable people trying to hold themselves together inside a violent and secretive city.

Combat is quick and punishing, favouring aggressive play over caution. Anton can dive, roll and slide through firefights, keeping momentum high and letting encounters play out as improvised set pieces rather than scripted sequences. The centrepiece system is an enormous library of contextual takedowns, ranging from close quarters hand to hand finishers to kills that make use of whatever happens to be nearby, all animated with a deliberate heaviness that rewards practice. Away from the violence, the shop functions as a genuine second layer of play rather than set dressing. Anton lives above it, decorates the space, changes outfits and interacts with his apartment, while the store itself supports restocking, inventory organisation, price setting and manning the register in person. Left alone the business ticks over and covers the basics, but attentive management can turn it into a serious revenue stream that funds the other half of his life. Environmental detail carries much of the worldbuilding, with posters, advertisements and tattoos hinting at the conspiracies the missions gradually uncover. The result is a focused, character driven thriller that pairs stylish gunfights with the strange domestic rhythm of a double life.
