FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles is a turn-based tactical role-playing game set in the troubled kingdom of Ivalice, a land long said to stand under the favour of its gods and ruled beneath the banner of the Two-headed Lion. In the aftermath of a punishing half-century war against a neighbouring power, the ailing king dies and leaves the crown to an infant heir, which means real authority passes to whoever is named regent. Two decorated war heroes, Duke Goltanna and Duke Larg, each command enough loyalty to press a claim, and their rivalry drags the realm into a civil conflict remembered as the War of the Lions. The story follows Ramza, a younger son of the influential House Beoulve, and Delita, a commoner raised among nobles at his side. Their friendship is tested as aristocratic scheming, class resentment and a darker power stirring beneath the fighting pull the two men toward very different fates.

Battles play out on compact three-dimensional maps where elevation, facing and distance matter as much as raw strength, and the visible turn order itself can be bent through speed and well-timed abilities. Careless positioning is punished quickly, so reading the terrain and planning several moves ahead is usually the difference between a clean sweep and a fallen ally. Character growth runs through a deep job system with more than twenty classes, from white mage and black mage to dragoon and other roles familiar from the wider series. Units earn points in combat to learn skills, unlock further jobs, and carry those learned abilities across when they change class, which opens the door to hybrid builds and highly personal party compositions. Chocobos and other creatures can be tamed and brought into the field as well. Two ways to play are offered: an enhanced presentation with reworked visuals, fully voiced dialogue, refined mechanics and an approachable Squire difficulty for newcomers, and a classic mode pairing the original 1997 look and feel with the acclaimed War of the Lions script. The result is a demanding, endlessly replayable strategy campaign.
