Early review, will return to update, but it’s already giving me what I hoped it would. The writing is somehow both silly and grounded, goofy and smart. BSTW pulls off a bit of a magic trick by reminding me of the games I loved from my childhood (the ones I feel like they don’t make anymore) while embracing fresh narratives and a play-how-you-want approach that offers surprising depth as either an RPG or a platformer. Regarding the latter, the game controls are really tight, which is crucial for a game like this (I can already picture speed-runners all over this game).
