I may as well have employed a blind bird as my guide through this soulless world for all the actual good this companion does as it frequently gets itself confused when guiding the player. Vigil Games seems to have fallen into the trap that bigger is better when as a matter of fact the entire game drags because of the size of it. While combat is still pretty solid, Death’s skill tree is underwhelming with many skills feeling like skills found on the cutting room floor of a better game. Puzzle dungeons have also increased in size which means you will often have to backtrack large portions of these enormous dungeons in order to solve them and this
just drags the game to slow crawl, not to mention that some of the solutions to these puzzles can be quite head scratching. Many times I found myself simply chasing my own tail with them and having to resort to a walkthrough guide to assist me when I got fed up, which was something this game did fairly often to me. Countless times I was asking myself what was I doing wasting my time playing this game when it seemed insistent on wasting mine. By the time the main game ended I didn’t even bother with the DLC, which is something I normally never do, because the thought of spending any more time with the game would most likely have done my head in.
