About The Game
Melody you play a session musician who has had a busy lifestyle, having worked in various cities and towns across the country. This has been your life, ever since you graduated from college, where you attained a degree in the field of Music. Once returning home, you decide to leave the place you grew up in, to start a new life and a fresh start in another town. Its you who have also decided to take a break from the job you know so well, to focus on a brand-new career. You’re just not sure what that will be yet. In order to keep the money coming in, you decide to take up a job offer, tutoring Melody, the niece of a woman you meet by chance via an online marketplace. Melody is currently studying music in college, so having an experienced tutor is pretty important for her chosen career path.You will be spending time with Melody every day. Aside from one-on-one lessons, you will have with her, you will also be accompanying her at various music-related activities. If all goes well, you may even be able to go out on a date with her. And if that goes well too, it could lead to something even better. Players will be making decisions between two or more options, that will negatively or positively affect the outcome of the date and the main story as well. There will be a number of secondary characters and you’ll be able to start a romantic relationship with them too.
Will you be that guy that wins Melody’s heart and has her singing to her own tune again? Is it possible that you and Melody can make beautiful music together one day? One of the few games outside from the two franchises that I’d consider a M-V in the strictest sense of the word. The art direction and level design are gorgeous, and as you explore you’ll find the map loop back on itself in the most surprising ways. The combat’s slow at first but it plays into the platforming very well, you get into a sort of groove. I do recommend finishing it the first time you play it, however. I’ve found it hard to drop back in my old saves after a hiatus, there’s a lot to keep track of that’s quite easy to forget if you aren’t playing consistently, and every time I’ve come back without starting anew I’ve gotten pretty lost. I’m mad I didn’t buy this game sooner. If you love Dark Souls and Metroidvania games (similar to Hollow Knight),
absolutely buy this on sale for $8 and you won’t be let down. It clearly has major religious overtones and it’s story and imagery borrows heavily from Spanish Catholicism (It keeps it quite brutal though..a lot of the imagery is….just brutal). While some things in the game are painfully torn out of the Dark Souls playbook, Blasphemous is different enough, yet familiar enough to enjoy. It’s hard for me to really get into a game, and this is one of those games that manages to keep my attention for hours on end. Basic gameplay is close to Her Story, but here it’s somehow infinitely more tedious for no good reason. You end up wasting time rewinding videos sloooowly without a possibility to skip to the beginning. The story was quite confusing in the beginning, but by the end it gripped me to the point where I plan to speed-replay this with key word list to get every video.
