About The Game
Heroes of Hammerwatch is a rogue-lite action-adventure game set in the same universe as Hammerwatch. Encounter endless hordes of enemies, traps, puzzles, secrets and lots of loot, as you battle your way through procedurally generated levels to reach the top of the Forsaken Spire. A rogue-lite with a lot of persistent progression. You will start each run in Outlook, a town which you can upgrade to grant your heroes with various enhancements that will further help you in your quest. The heroes themselves will also remain persistent, you can even bring your own heroes to your friends game! Procedurally generated content: Random generated levels offers a high replay value and will bring you a new challenge with each run. Persistant progression: Your heroes will retain the experience gained from a run, and will become more powerful as they level up.
Town upgrades: Construct/Upgrade 10 different buildings that will help your heroes in various ways. Classes: Choose from 7 different classes, all with unique stats, abilities and playstyles. Items: Find or buy over 100 unique items of various rarity. Co-op: Play with up to 3 friends in co-op. New Game+: Heroes of Hammerwatch will be a real challenge, and even if you beat it, the challenge never ends! A fun and massively well balanced game where you put extra gold and resources from your runs back to town where you can them use them to get permanent stat upgrades and purchase items before a run to make the next one a little easier and more interesting. Until it arbitrarily kills you instantly by smiting you with bolt of lighting that confuses you, causing you to run backwards into the final bosses’s ice-breath attack that does so much damage not even a full potion flask can save you, leading to a 2 hour run resulting in nothing but extra money and shame in a literal second.
This will lead to you into having a crippling drinking problem for the ale called “mind control” for the rest of your life that prevents confusion for the entire run at the cost of other status effects lasting twice as long, which will inevitably make you realize you have developed PTSD in a dungeon crawling game and are resorting to alcoholism to numb the pain. Hand’s down one of the best Rouge-like games I’ve ever played and up to this day can’t find anything to compare it to. The amount of progression that you can do in this game is absurd. I have over 100 hours in it and still haven’t fully completed Statues/Max levels e.c.t but then again I like taking my time with things so reason probably why I haven’t yet completed them. Absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy games or rogue lites. Think Gauntlet mixed with Risk of Rain or Rogue Legacy. At first you start pretty weak but as you go you can become absurdly powerful and can just keep building the numbers higher and higher if that’s your thing.
