About The Game
Inspired by the popular comic book series produced by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is an intense first person shooter that delivers a twisted and gripping narrative of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror. Players will be taken down the brutal and personal path of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as The Darkness. It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power and now The Darkness wants out. Inspired by the popular comic book series created by Top Cow. And throughout the whole game the storyline and atmosphere is excellent and the script is good too. Also of course the voice acting and all that. However… the mechanics of the gameplay later in the game is what I have an issue with. Things like bullet sponge enemies, some issues with gun management, light being too overpowering, levels that looked more bland, some poor control choices, maybe more. Some of these are in the first half too, but maybe because the gameplay is a bit slower and less chaotic you just don’t notice them as much. I’ll give it a recommend anyway despite all that because… the storyline throughout and the fun of the first half just kind of carries it a lot.
