Three Kingdoms: the Last Warlord is a turn-based SLG, where you are the ruler, produced by Chengdu LongYou Game studio. It is a brand new Three Kingdoms world built with Chinese people’s new thinking style of the Three Kingdoms. The game deeply delineates the difference in cities terrain and each officer’s abilities, highlights the battle spirit of timing, place and human allocation. Over 1,300 officers appeared, including historical and fictional ones. The officers’ heads adopt classic line drawing and tapestry painting as Three Kingdoms picture-story book. Its archaistic design shows traditional Chinese style. Basic Affairs, Personnel, Search, Research all adopt laid management pattern to reduce the frequency that players operate, thus focus on other events. In role-play mode, players only need to attend the capital and country’s governance. Other cities could be managed automatically or remote controlled by Policy.
If you enjoyed Romance of the Three Kingdoms, you’ll deeply enjoy this. It takes the familiar mechanics from the Kou Shibusawa series and takes them to a whole new level of depth. I enjoy that every officer now matters. Even low-skill officials are going to be important, especially if you’re playing tall at the start. Unfortunately there’s no “pure” RP mode, you have to play from a ruler’s perspective. However this doesn’t detract a whole lot from the experience for me. I don’t really have the time to explain in fully all the ways this game goes a little deeper than the familiar RoTK formula, just know that it’s a very well-made game and if you liked the RoTK franchise, get ready for that but deeper.
this game plays truly like an old school RTK. Its more similar to RTK9, and battle style similar to RTK4 and 8. But it realy does play like 9 on the strategic map, with lots of moving around, and logistics management. Lots of great features, if you can understand theyre ‘english’ transaltion. The only real bad side, is the AI is a moron, and you can predict exactly what theyll do almost everytime, harder difficulty only adds more to theyre resources and troops and frequency of attacks, even tho theyll fight a losing battle or war. (maybe its a good thing), but it gets annoyingly repetetive Negative reviews of this game at this point are pretty unfounded in 2022. The last 2 years this game has been a BETTER ROTK. There are things the developers could improve on that would put the game over the top. But to say this game is bad is just wrong. (id love more peace time events that were meaningful and helped assist in building my own personal story)(family interactions.
