WE ARE FOOTBALL focuses on real management tasks. The goal of the game is to build up the club over the long haul, including growing the team, colleagues, infrastructure, fans, and more. As a result, the football players in the game are individual personalities who spin their own stories. Great game made by German football manager developer veterans with tons of leagues and teams which keeps on getting better and better! A lot of the issues players had in the beginning have been addressed and fixed through regular updates or will be addressed in future updates, It does not have official licensing but that is actually a positive in my opinion as it gives a more immersive feeling of an alternate football universe where you can lead your low-level team to international glory. Not as much depth as SI’s manager with all the stats and info, obviously, but it has some nice gimmicks like the infrastructure and back-office options. And the game does not take itself too seriously so you can expect a few humorous things here and there.
I haven’t bought any new Football Manager games since FM2015 because I don’t think the upgrade is worth it. It’s essentially the same exact game every year and I’m tired of the super repetitive press conferences and all the flaws the game has always had. Plus, it gets boring once you kinda settle with your tactics and just keep hiring or developing the new best player for each position. FM series doesn’t allow you to play the game in the rol of a club manager, so you have nothing to say about marketing, merchandising, finances, stadium, academy and so on, which are truly thrilling parts of football that were widely covered by PC Futbol, Ultimate Soccer Managers and other games back in the 90s. To me, it is simply absurd that for the past 20 years we haven’t had one decent game about football club management besides the Total Club Manager series, long dead since EA decided to kill it. So, this is what We Are Football is trying to fix, and that’s why I bought the game in the first place.
