Create your own director’s cut of the action with settings that let you customize enemy types, weapons, and more. As protagonist ‘Babyface’, you play through 41 levels in a quest to stop criminals taking over the city. There is a decent story here, with plenty of twists and turns, but it’s the combat that will leave its mark. The game’s very enjoyable, and surprisingly deep, combat system takes a while to reveal itself. You start with off with a basic set of moves which can be upgraded through a skill tree once you’ve accrued points from completing levels. This skill tree allows you to customise your move-set however you see fit. You may want to spend all your points on melee attacks, upgrading your parry, or buying new bullets for your secondary weapon (once you obtain it). I enjoyed the slow drip feed of new moves as it kept things interesting and allowed me to master each ability before spending more points. Before long I was stringing huge combos together in brutal balletic fashion – similar to the Batman Arkham games, Sifu, and even the cartoon brawler, Bloodroots, in some ways.
