About The Game
Prime of Flames is a special strategy game that combines Wargame and Roguelike. You will lead the warriors of different clans to find the truth of history. Each clan has its own unique playstyle and so does each class. You can recruit a beast army to help you, or build a huge Bronion Works, or even construct a magic field to defeat powerful enemies. Each fight plays out differently, so let your creativity run wild. The ancestors once built a great and prosperous country in the Wilderness, and each clan lived and multiplied with the help of the ancestors. Until the day disaster came, the meteorite destroyed the world of the ancestors, while the demons, ghosts and orcs ravaged this land, and even the witches who sheltered Human broke their covenant and disappeared. As the guider of the former ancestors, you revived and arrived. In the name of Star Envoy, you leave for the Human camp, and lead the warriors of different clans with talents and abilities to find the truth of history and disaster…
It plays like a branching Fire Emblem game. The roguelite elements (level up choices a la Nuclear Throne, branching map structure that allows you to pick battles strategically or go full farm mode, permadeath with revive options) all fit the genre well. There are 3 clans with different classes, and 2 game modes. Story mode is your bread and butter for learning and enjoying the game, while Abyss mode is the endless run mode for, presumably, the hardcore players. I’m a sucker for Fire Emblem/ srpg game play so I’m loving it so far, but I will note that the game is full of translation errors and unintuitive language. This makes the tooltips for learning mechanics pretty confusing.

This game is essentially a roguelike tactics game with 2 modes with 1 having a progression system and chapters and the other a more classical punishing roguelike mode. There are also 3 different factions with their own units, faction buff, faction unique mechanics (one group uses animals and can become mounted warriors, while the other can fuse units to make armored mecha units), and different variants of the same class. With the ability to add more passives onto your characters when they level up. By the end you should ideally have some broken synergies like any good roguelike. The only few criticisms that I have so far is that it is hard to tell what direction enemies are facing (can mess up back stabs), the combat preview can be deceiving as it does not take any passives into account, and the translation can be rough at times. Though hopefully this will be resolved with time. I can still see myself playing this game for some time still as I am currently only on the 3rd chapter with the first faction (currently 6 chapters/difficulties per faction.
