Your task is simple; collect the Hellstones and escape the maze. Choose your own path by navigating expertly handcrafted zones – each filled with danger around every corner. Collect runes, uncover secrets, and smite all that stand in your way. Rip through your enemies with Scathe’s insanely powerful arsenal of weapons, each equipped with a devastating secondary fire. Spew hellfire with the Hot Hatch or slice through endless evil with the Bow Blade. Scour the underworld for ancient relics and harness the dark powers of the Fallen Mages. Charge up your arcane energy by crushing your enemies and channel it into potent spells. Heal yourself, summon aid, and wreak havoc on the legions of Hell. Slaying demons is your thing? You love the fast, brutal fps gameplay from the 90s, that has seen a resurgence with the so called boomer shooters (Amid Evil, Dusk, Iron Fury, Wrath: Aoen of Ruin and many more) during the last years? You prefer better, more detailled visuals than most boomer shooters have to offer? Then play Doom Eternal. In the case of Scathe, I am not sure if I can recommend the game. Probably yes, but it certainly is no masterpiece.
Scathe Direct Download:
Scathe tries to be like the old Doom (or its many clones), just in modern clothing. You can play it with mouse and keyboard (in this case probably the better choice) or play it with your gamepad, play it in Full HD , or even in 4K if you invested in a powerful GPU. Playing on your ultradwide-screen is not possible in native 21:9 resolution, though, which I find completely unacceptable for a professional game released today. Circle-strafe and kill demons, on the ground or flying around. Use different weapons, avoid getting hit by their bullets (you can see them coming) or getting torn-apart in close combat. Enemies seem to spawn everywhere around you, even behind you, and explode in a bloody mess when you hit them. Most of the time you need to wipe off all the blood from your face to see anything. The visuals are not so bad There are ammo packs lying around, but you need to hold the correct weapon to collect them… which makes most of them useless. Health packs are rare. You start with 10 lifes, when you die you can just continue where you died… until all your lifes are gone. Changing the language is not possible, not even outside the game in the Steam properties. Absolutely unacceptable for a new game. Speech is english only. At least you can turn off head bobbing. Gameplay is fluid.
