Tiny Rogues is a challenging fantasy rogue-lite bullet-hell dungeon crawler with rpg elements. Build a new unique character each run and fight one monster-infested room after another! Discover unique weapons, collect magical items and level up to become more and more powerful! Fight against rooms filled with enemies! Adventure through 10 uniquely themed dungeon floors with a total of 19 different boss encounters to defeat! Dodge incoming bullet-hell-like attacks! Level up and chose traits from a selection of over 60 different passive skills to power up your character! Specialize your build in one of 3 core build archetypes, melee, ranged and magic! Discover over 200 different weapons and equipment items that will make each run feel unique! Unlock 10 different character classes with unique passive skills! First and foremost I want to preface that the developer and I have known each other for over a year now and I playtested other games of his. Takes this as a positive or a negative, however with that being said, this game has the potential to be a mainstay in the rogue-like/dungeon crawler genre. Especially thinking back to how the “The Binding of Isaac” games started. This series started as a flash game with very little variation in runs and in terms of content and only started over the following years to generate a following. Tiny Rogues feels like it has the potential to follow a similar path as TBoI, in the sense that the game has a strong foundation, an open minded developer with the necessary passion and talent to improve the game and an incredibly satisfying gameplay loop. I can’t remember a rogue-like this addictive coming out in the last couple of years.
Tiny Rogues Direct Download:
This game has everything I love in this genre. Plenty of unlockable characters, a progression system, and run boosting passives/consumables. Has alternate bosses for each area, which gives the gameplay some varied flavor, but where it really shines is the TONS of weapons and equipment. You can truly not have the same run twice, because your stats will always change a bit, and your gear will change a LOT. Start as a thief, and become a triple shot poison bow wielding menace with machine gun fire rate. Play as a pyromancer, and become a barbaric thunder slinging viking. Start as a naked screaming hobo, and become GOD. The sky is the limit. May be one of the best indie games I’ve played this year, and that’s by no means a small list of nominees. 10/10, would gladly pay triple the price!
