About The Game
Pixel Cup Soccer is a casual retro-style soccer game, a great evolution from the previous edition. It’s dynamic, arcade, with fast-paced gameplay, just the fun part of soccer! The game has great pixel art graphics like the games from the 80s and 90s, evoking nostalgia. Move, pass, and shoot the ball to victory! You will learn to play in one minute, but it takes much longer to master it. The simple controls enable a rich set of features such as passing, shooting, tackling, sprinting, dribbling, etc. Play single-player (player VS computer) or local multiplayer (player VS player). Play local multiplayer with your friends. With Remote Play Together, you can play online with your friends in competitive or cooperative modes. Tactical and Strategy panels, to manage player substitutions, team formation, and attitude. Deep gameplay mechanics: short pass, through pass, lob pass, aiming when shooting, controlled shots, player skills, super shots, etc. Lots of Animations (overhead kick, scorpion kick, scissor kick, diving header, etc.)
I first run it yesterday and I was expecting very little or anything at all. Turns out it’s pretty fun. Apart from the various tournaments and quick play, I find the “Career” to be the most addicting and engaging. There’s a variety of skills and stats to improve using XP points, and the results are immediately felt. The gameplay is a bit scuffed at times, but I think this just enhances the arcade fun experience. It’s not a football simulator. My only criticism would be the lack of online multiplayer mode. Even without it, I still recommend it. If you are a fan of the genre and pixel art gtraphics and you go into this with low expectations you’ll be very pleasantly surpised. I’m very satisfied with the evolution of the game compared to the first version I played, the Pixel Cup 17. Now the developers have managed to focus exactly on fun and customization, something that no football “simulator” does … Now i’m looking foward in the possibility of editing team names and in sharing your customization teams and leagues. I think it will be a “boom” in the game’s popularity.

Believe that especially for this year, a “road to world cup” package or DLC could be launched with all fifa nations for you to try to qualify with your home country, whatever it may be. Something EA has abandoned and we’re missing a lot. The feeling of that retro arcade football game is all there and the levels of zoom are a great addition to the game. Playability, for this kind of game, is the best I’ve tried! There are only a couple of things I would change: 1. Career mode and all those fooling around with the puddles and weeds and birds and all of that; 2. I would do something about the shirts colors. Many times I just can’t tell them apart. Maybe use more contrast on the colors… I don’t know (the option to change the shirts mid-game is nice).
