ICEwall Direct Download
No one knew where the construct came from, one day it just suddenly appeared. A digital entity floating in cyberspace, with big letters on its side reading: ICEwall. The construct seemingly had no purpose and yet it contained a series of programs, ICE, designed to eliminate intruders, as if its sole purpose was to challenge us. The other runners and I were instantly hooked, like kids spending all their money playing arcade machines ICEwall updates the classic experience of Space Invaders with a lite roguelike shell. What content there is contributes to a fun game with a bright, vibrant ambience. Its simple design affords it a good quality and power-ups provide a decent depth to strategy. Its hardest difficulty possesses a noticeable rise in complexity to the challenge it offers.
A great game. Love its retro visual style and synth wave music – very fitting for the futuristic theme. A great range of possible upgrades and paths to take your ship, I’m looking forward to exploring more and figuring out what style suits me best. There are also a lot of interesting and unique enemies with their own unique way of adding to the bullet hell – you can tell the developer has had a lot of fun with both the upgrades and enemy designs. The regular enemies are not that great. Designwise they are relatively bland and they don’t feel fitting within the neon-drenched hallways of the abyss. On top of that, their A.I. isn’t that great either, which makes fighting against them quite boring. Once you get a few levels on your weapons, you’ll most likely not even be looking for their attack patterns, as you’ll just melt through them in a second anyways.
ICEwall Pre-Installed:
The bosses are the best part of the game for me. Their designs are amazing. Most bosses feel like they belong in the world and have attacks that match their visual design. The first four floors the bosses are randomized, meaning you won’t know which one you’ll be up against until you’re standing in the boss room. After that you get set bosses unfortunately. These bosses are well designed, but once you learn their patterns you’ll be doing the same in every single run.
