The thing that bothered me (and most fans from what I’ve seen) for all these years was not knowing what was the Secret of Monkey Island and what the ending of MI2 meant to the whole story. I don’t want to give away the ending and even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to confirm to you that my understanding was correct, so as long as you realise that Guybrush is a pirate as much as you are Guybrush when you are playing MI, you shouldn’t feel betrayed if his reality is questioned, kids immerse themselves in and out of play all the time, the difference is that we adults, like to know when we are playing and that’s when we get defensive about our understanding and memories of things. Enjoy while it lasts, who knows when can we go back for new adventures in Monkey Island.
