Strayed Lights is an atmospheric action-adventure with fluid combat and an intricate world imbued with mystery. You are a tiny, growing light seeking transcendence. Use a fluid mix of parries and dodges to absorb their energy levels until you can unleash an ultra energy attack. Shift your light from blue to orange in sync with enemies using timed parries, then push energy back at them in vivid finishers. Monsters pursue you across otherworldly regions of mists, tall trees and luminescent ruins. Enjoy evocative boss fights with colossal shadow creatures gone rogue, as well as rhythmic duels with a variety of eerie creatures. Strayed Lights is set in a dark and oneiric world that is as vivid as it is mysterious. Journey alongside a haunting soundtrack that reflects states of feeling in creatures you encounter created by Austin Wintory — composer behind Journey ®, ABZÛ, and The Banner Saga series. Beat the first three areas as of writing this. Amazing atmospheric game with challenging combat. You match colors with the enemy and parry their attacks. The games platforming elements are solid, but when you jump on a latch it takes a while for your character to pull himself up which breaks the pace of the otherwise fast running. Loads of collectibles which actually make your character stronger so they’re an interesting initiative for everyone and not just completionists. The boss battles is where the game really shines though, Shadow of the Collosus/Asura’s Wrath vibes, which I absolutely love. Soundtrack is mostly atmospheric with some upbeat music during boss battles.
Strayed Lights Direct Play:
The game follows a set formula. Cutscene points your character in a certain direction? Turn around for a collectible. Two or more different paths to take? Check them all out for collectible. At the top of a jumping puzzle? Gives you view of a collectible so better jump down to get that first. stands out the most is the involved combat system with switching colors and parries (of the matching color!) filling out ability bar. It’s got the regular jump, dodge, parry, attack, ability etc… The dodge must happen right when the opponent connects so you have to watch them. It’s got a pretty interesting progression system.
