Darksburg is a cooperative roguelite action game where you must team up to escape the hordes of Infected that have decided to settle down in the quaint little town of Darksburg. Assume the role of one of the heroic Survivors each with their own unique skills and personalities, power them up with the numerous perks and skills you will come across throughout your runs and defeat the nefarious revenants and legion of undead that have come to plague this formerly peaceful city. Master the arts of cooperative gameplay to survive the relentless hordes of Infected that are terrorising the town of Darksburg. Choose among 3 random perks each time you level up and combine them to create the perfect build. A procedurally generated adventure. The entire city of Darksburg and the loot it contains changes with every run, so no two games are alike. Explore a number of unique zombie infested locales spanning across the entire town with a diverse range of objectives, enemies and items to encounter with each run.
That is the thing, the game is short. And I mean you can technically finish the whole thing in 1-2 hours if you really want to. The game is set up so the map changes somewhat between each run, the drops are different and the “ability power-ups” you can choose from are randomly(?) generated. When you defeat the final boss, you climb up a tier and you unlock a harder difficulty. This change in difficulty is usually in the form of one or more debuffs(which also are randomly chosen). The game also has an “upgrade tree” and you get to unlock and choose different items that can make it easier to counter different situations and to tweak your preferred playstyle -Graphics are sweet, sound and music just as well You’re first, normal difficulty playthrough will probably seem dull and easy, but as soon as you hit ascension 1 the game actually ramps up surprisingly and becomes way more challengin Potential replayability through random generation, and scaling difficulty levels, but also see the cons part for this.

I feel the balance of the available characters is lacking, albeit this might just be due to the need of proper coordination, but that’s not something you can expect queuing up with randoms The above point isn’t helped by the small playerbase, at the time of writing there appear to be 170-ish players online which results in a hard time finding a group of people and even if you do, they might hinder you rather than help you Although theoretically the prcedurally generated maps, enemies, talents and the ascension dificculty scaling would provide replayability, you’ll be playing the same levels against the same enemies over and over again, without even multiple final boss options.
