Another Chance: If you’re defeated you can go back to action on another timeline, where the path to victory will change: different map, different enemies, different rewards… Lots of end-game options to dial up the difficulty to insane levels. Same-device multiplayer, challenge your friends to chess games with lots of unique pieces. Chess-based tactics, easy to learn and hard to master. 15-45 minute runs, good for a short break and also longer sessions.
Pretty disappointing as I already managed to get a decent bit of playtime through the demo version. I submitted a refund for the game, however if more content is released in the future I think I would buy it again. New to chess? Don’t worry, this isn’t chess, you’ll be fine. Many new pieces and relics make the game play differently than chess, and the roguelike randomized adventures will stay fresh for a long while. Think you’re good at chess or strategy games in general? Play on max difficulty settings, realize your opponent has mate in 11, be relieved the engine doesn’t see it and plays a different line, blunder your rook anyway, lose the game. The game is pretty fast paced (though there is no clock, don’t worry) and favours having fewer but more powerful pieces.
The Ouroboros King Free Steam Pre-Installed:
You have only 8 slots for your starting position, so that’s your king and up to 7 pieces. Likewise, your opponent will have a king and up to 7 pieces. Classical chess meanwhile has a king and 15 pieces per side (or 7 pieces and 8 pawns if pawns aren’t pieces to you) and they are relatively weaker, so games take longer and there are subtle moves that seem to do nothing but are actually winning if you can plan 30 moves ahead. If your goal is to roleplay stockfish, this might not be the game for you. No gatekeeping, all the content is unlocked from the start. Win or die based on your skills. No need to learn any chess openings or study anything.
