So, let’s get the positives out of the way. The meat of the gameplay is great. Controls are responsive, and everything mostly makes sense. Fight Forever has struck a perfect balance between the pure spectacle of the 2K series, and the pure arcade feel of FirePro. There are however some glaring exceptions. It should be possible to put someone into a seated position from the ground (you can only do that with certain moves), and there was no reason why we can’t have additional slots for rear grapples and corner grapples. An arguably as equally egregious offender is the lack of moves available for your moveset. The way moves are categorised are poor at best, or non-existent at worst. And even how you can build your moveset.
AEW Fight Forever Direct Play:
You controls in a grapple are bound by high strikes-which can only be punches, low strikes-which can only be kicks, and throws-which can only be well, throws. You want to create a pure grappler? Or a boxer? Or a brawler? Maybe a fancy-pants martial artist? NOPE! So the barebones creation kit extends to your moveset as well. You can do full contact intergender matches-something that you haven’t been able to do in WWE games for over a decade. Also Cody’s now in both companies current games, so that’s nice Two, the roster is especially out of date by wrestling game standards, probably about the same as 2K22’s roster ended up being when it finally came out.
