Discover the world of Dros, a beautifully detailed story-driven adventure about a slimy little creature and her human bounty hunter shell. Little Dros and Captain both have different strengths and weaknesses and you’ll switch between them to solve puzzles, fight off enemies and sneak through a vast steampunk Tower. The world of Dros features a fantasy story with a huge cast of odd and interesting characters to interact with. Unravel the mysteries within the Tower as you explore, unlock journal entries and collect strange alchemical treasures. DUAL-CHARACTER PLAY Use both characters’ abilities to make it through the Tower. Jump, squirm and stealth around as Little Dros and fight off creepy enemies as Captain. As you journey upward through the Tower you’ll converse with a range of other strange beings. Each character has their own story to tell…their own struggles. No one is truly good or truly evil. Inside the Tower use both brains and brawn to solve puzzles, take on enemies and collect alchemical treasures. Unlock journal entries that expand world lore and flesh out character backstories.
A cool mix of story, puzzles and platforming. The switching between the characters is fun because you can explore the world as the slime creature and fight as the bounty hunter. It’s got an old school adventure and fantasy feeling and the dialogue is funny, reminds me of Monkey Island a bit. Dros takes a few levels to warm up because it’s establishing the characters at the start but there’s a lot to find and read about the world. There’s also a lot to collect and put in the journal. I played the demo version last year and it’s improved which is saying something. Music is electronic and really suits the world. Highly recommend this game! I played through the first chapter and it was really fun learning new things about the game and I am very excited to play through the rest of the game.
DROS Pre-Installed:
From what I have experienced so far, the game looks quite nice, but I wasn’t a fan of how elements like invisible floors are explained away in a ‘shoo, shoo’ fashion, and the combat when controlling Captain feels initially very underwhelming with a strange feel to the attack animation. The game features collectables that are scattered throughout the levels (There is not so many and it doesn’t feel like a slog, which is nice) as well as gorgeous artwork in the menus describing different elements/creatures etc of the game. Great concept of having the Captain and DROS characters work together to progress through the levels using their different attributes. The combo of the art, music and funny characters really create a very atmospheric game…and most importantly it’s really fun!
