EXPLORE THE CREEPY MANOR You are completely alone in a terrible and unknown manor. Or not alone? In any case, you will have to explore this place. I hope you’re not afraid of the dark. WHY IS IT SO DARK? It’s pretty hard to see at night, especially indoors. A lamp, a flashlight and a candle will help you not to hit your head against the wall. How long will they last? Combine items to enhance their effect or create something new. Use cold steel and firearms to fight monsters, but remember that the amount of ammunition is limited. You will have to work with your head to solve some of the challenges. Some items can be moved, use this to complete the game. It was scary at first, but then I got used to it. The game is somewhat reminiscent of Resident Evil. There are also enemies and you don’t always have enough ammo. There are puzzles to think about. Sound design follows suit and is the biggest creator of the tension.
Henri is alone, meaning each and every sound could be the monster. It comes out of holes in the walls, and often I would happily open a door and rush in, only to see it slowly emerging from the wall. The audio swells and will collide if it spots you, beginning chase. The game does not rely on jumpscares or even these chase sequences, instead it is dependent on its immersive, frightening world. The enemies you battle are extremely basic in their programming, standing wherever they are and shooting, or meleeing you when within range. It didn’t bother me in the least, and there are justifications you could make for it, taking the narrative into consideration. It’s worth pointing out since that sort of thing is important to some gamers. I like that you can choose and build up to weapons that you want to craft which is nice and lets you explore a lot more with your own combat style.

Of course each enemy has its own vulnerabilities and you’ll learn to choose which weapons work for you. I found myself using melee a lot apart from when it comes to boss fights. I do like the amount of mini and main boss fights in this game. It provides you with quite a challenge sometimes. However something that really annoyed me is that before a boss fight the machine is there for you to change your loadout and such. You will find yourself fighting, blocking, or avoiding them and using some of your abilities to finish off the enemy. Most of these abilities are useful, and you can get them from the skill tree, special clothes, or technological tools that you may open and upgrade in the future. In addition to fighting enemies, there is also a boss fight. Most of their fights are simple and repetitive. If you know how to face them, you will find yourself repeating the movement until you eliminate them even without using your mind, and it was kind of disappointing.
