Explore the Kingdom’s world, filled with hidden places and mysteries. Find items, spells, and abilities to aid you in your journey. Customize your playstyle with the inspiration system. It’s very pedestrian, though with nothing unique that stand out from the crowd. Combat is simple but get the job done. Bosses are bit on easy side but pretty fun and fair. Healing is quite restricted, they don’t refill flasks on respawns and you lose some money on dying but you keep all progress. Easy / normal difficulty. it’s evident that there wasn’t adequate playtesting as some sections are poorly tuned and a certain area is excessively long without a save point or shortcut. So buyer beware, maybe wait few more patches. The game is good but lack polish. Or just play on easy difficulty.
Kingdom Shell Pre-Installed:
The game has a strong atmosphere and interesting mechanics, this one is a proper Metroidvania too with ability gating and backtracking. It also controls great and is decently balanced. The things I liked less were that it’s sometimes hard to see what are platforms and what is background elements and the pits which do damage are also hard to spot. I also did not like some of the boss attacks of the two last bosses I fought, they felt slightly unfair and hard to read/dodge. But this was still pretty minor. I think this game is entirely or largely made by one person and that is incredible, overall a very interesting and fun game!
