The gameplay, atmosphere and character development remain largely the same, though a big part of the mystery is gone. Such is the nature of the sequels. There are a few new clever puzzles and mechanics thrown in for good measure and the story takes some interesting turns, but it remains a similar game to the first one. The characters in the first game have such vivid personalities and are so well written. They feel like real kids, with real problems and feelings. I got attached to them, and I played through multiple times partly just to see dialogue play out differently, and to see how different responses would shape the relationships between characters. the gameplay sometimes may feel too guided or linear for those who are accustomed to open-world games or those who seek more freedom in decision-making.

I never found the characters annoying as can happen in some games and especially when they are the types of teenagers you would expect in these teen horror type movies.
