Welcome to the cold depths of ChiroTerra Leave the safety of the surface and venture into an unmarked cave alone. Can you survive with only the Tools and Resources that YOU decided to bring? Every item has advantages and disadvantages if brought with you. You have limited space in your bag, so you’ll have to choose your gear carefully. Perhaps you prefer a convenient headlamp, or perhaps a reliable glowstick? It’s your choice what items work for you! ChiroTerra is a maze of tunnels, you’ll need to think hard on how to navigate them. You could bring chalk to mark your way through the cave, or a lighter that can pick up on the caves draft, or you could bring both if you have the enough space. Either way, wandering around aimlessly is a surefire way to freeze to death. Lastly remember you’re not alone in those dark, dank tunnels. Listen for the pitter patter sound of hands crawling. If you hear it, then hide or ready something to scare it off! Just make sure you packed enough flares, or make sure you still have some bullets.
The game is well done visually and atmospherically, killing necromorphs splattering blood all over your suit indicating that you’ve just survived hell, heart beating faster as you hear noises coming from the vents and a story that puts an emphasis on Murphy’s law gives you the impressive survival horror experience. All of the references throughout the game hold an important symbolic message, and knowing them helps you understand the world and story better—if the player sees the similarity to Silent Hill 2 in starting the scene staring in a bathroom mirror, they may understand the protagonist is looking for someone they care about to an obsessive degree. The developers use of homages is exceptional and renders even more unity to the story. I figured if this game was able to inspire people to make so much cool fan content, the story and world must really stay with you, and boy, was I right. The world of Signalis will haunt me for a while to come.
ChiroTerra Free Steam Pre-Installed:
A fair amount of inventory management with some basic crafting sprinkled in there. Oh and of course, puzzles, great puzzles. All in all I think it was actually really enjoyable. The story I’d say was really good, too. Things remain mysterious for the first few hours but I think the unraveling near the end is spot on and really well done. Gameplay is fantastic, feels balanced with some challenge. Controls are responsive and tight. Gunplay is great. Mods and skills are well done and general progression always feels like you have new things to try out. Its balanced enough to make you feel powerful but never like you can just walk through anything in your path.
