War Hospital Video Game Take charge of a WW1 field hospital on the Western Front, and make all the decisions necessary to help the soldiers recover and to support the war effort. In this narrative management game, you are the last bastion of humanity. Mechanics are quite deep and there is many types of different mechanics, so you need some time to remember it all. The fact that your personnel never take breaks on their own and will work till they die thus forcing you to micromanage and babysit every single one of them…is frustrating. The units getting stuck and the framerate dropping is frustrating showing the game is buggy. Once you give orders to your units (which takes a few seconds) you’ll find yourself waiting for things to be completed (which takes several minutes) thus causing you to spend most of your time waiting rather than actually doing anything. And the cutscenes for the battles have far less quality than the rest of the game.
The mechanics are much deeper than they initially appear. Challenges varied and interesting. Graphics more than good for this type of game genre (on top of that, good optimisation makes the hardware requirements quite low). The video and audio layers create a very interesting, melancholic mood – appropriate for the subject matter the game deals with. First impression – very good. We can get to know the history of each patient, decide on priorities. make detailed decisions on selected medical procedures (choice A-B), during the rehabilitation period we decide on the further fate of the soldiers – we can send them back to the front, to headquarters or release them from service. Each of these decisions affects morale in the hospital, the favour of the headquarters and the chances of our side in the conflict at the front. Staff management is no less interesting – each staff member within a specialisation has certain preferences that should be taken into account.
War Hospital Pre-Installed:
Strong choices will have to be made and they will have consequences. And congratulations to the developers who add an excellent game to the little-explored theme of the First World War when assigning them to tasks. Ultimately, we also take care of staff morale by, among other things, providing them with good working conditions, rest, etc. So far I have not encountered any bugs, but perhaps they will manifest themselves a little later. I hope I won’t be disappointed in the rest of the game. Entirely different (not very good) art style and very low quality sound which is depressing because the idea of actually having and seeing trenches while you’re mending the wounded is a cool idea. But despite those negatives the game DOES have some positives going for it. Interesting gameplay idea, some interesting gameplay components, good art style (not in battle) with good attention to detail.
