The worst thing about Oliver’s breakfast is that it wants to be eaten. Inspired by early RPGmaker horror games and Adult Swim bumpers, Sunflower Pie is a bite-sized visual novel with extra parasites (for flavor). Much like real life, it oscillates violently between discomfort and sincerity. Unlike real life, however, there is only one correct choice. You can beat this visual novel in 25 minutes. Oliver’s speech therapist is good at her job and owns a revolver. Learn about all the cool ways to remove ticks from your body. A neat little horror visual novel which hits you hard and fast, with great art, intense moments, a colorful sense of metaphor, and an intriguing ending. definitely has me interested in ThePenSword’s next game which follows this up (Siren’s Call: Escape Velocity). certainly worth picking up if you enjoy these kinds of brief, emotional visual novels. The whiplash I felt playing this game was insane. I am feeling everything all at once.
After a bit of “through” game play and achievement grinding (Still don’t have all of them yet). I have to say the audio choices and feel of each scene feels well crafted with the choice of words, there is some really quotable lines and I don’t know if that’s a good thing for Vn’s since i don’t play a lot of them but I like it, the game is reasonably bite-sized and was able to keep my attention through a few “play” (i’m not sure the right term for a visual novel) through it, there was interesting details i noticed between each play through, i would note that the Spanish translation isn’t perfect but its a honestly sincere effort for a game this small to even offer multiple translations. For a prequel// hype up for the developer’s future game, it does have me hungry for another serving, and i look forward for to that game when it releases without getting in depth given how small the game/vn is. I have been boggled and made to think from the dialogue.

I also will be reminded of this game whenever i see a sunflower, Please don’t make anything to cause me to rethink lavender and hibiscus next (i’m kidding , only partially at least). All in all I liked the game, i would recommend for the price, better than some other games that i have played. If you’re tempted and have a dollar to spend , I say go for it. I will have to go back and give Sirens call a proper shot. If anyone can deliver that kind of narrative in such a short jaunt their “longer” form content has to be good. I appreciated the visuals most of all , i was rewarded for staring on for a moment just to see something blink. It was a a good touch and further invested me in the dialogue which at first I wasn’t sold on, but an understanding comes about from it. The author chose their words and imagery carefully it was meant to be unsettling for sure but more than that i feel each had a meaning.
