The primary reason to play this version is for the updated graphical quality, newly orchestrated soundtrack, and the new content added. The updated graphical quality is both an improvement and a downgrade. Jade looks the best by far, but Pey’j, Double H, and other characters like Mei look worse and at times, even uncanny. Those characters have a real plastic-like quality to their model that seems off to me compared to the original’s look. The orchestrated soundtrack is personally a weaker version of the original. The original soundtrack is iconic and did not need an update. A feature that would be appreciated would be to switch between the original and the new one. While there are some tracks that feel the same as their original counterparts, there are others that have added sounds or re orchestrated completely that take the mood out of their original vision. That could just be me being a nitpicky douche though.

But the scavenger hunt. The new side quest you can unlock within the final hour of the game. You’ll have to go on a search around the world to find these caches to unlock to get information on characters that weren’t even in the original release. In essence, this is sequel baiting. Ubisoft is trying to get you to love these new characters from the sequel they claim to be working on, despite the fact that we have no connection to these people. Other than the final cutscene in the side quest, not much of value is gained from it in my eyes. There are still visual and audio bugs that are present in the original PC release, and the addition of these new things as well as skins for the characters and their weapons is not enough to give this a pass for me.
