I was an Alpha kickstarter so been playing it a couple months. It has been a great time, if you are a fan of Captain of Industry or Dyson Sphere project it is close to those type of games but it really is it’s own unique creation with a whole financial aspect and storyline. There is also exploration aspect with exploring the lunar surface. Great indie dev team behind it and look forward to more in the future. The campaigns were awfully misleading, using legends of the genre like Factorio. The person from the publisher who had done the promo for this game had never touched a game besides Match3 when doing Number 2, and then checked Steam charts on the Automation tag and colony builder tag. Do not get me wrong; the models are beautifully made and meticulously animated, but they are soulless, lacking any identity. They feel sterile. When I look at them, I feel like I’m browsing an asset store, not someone’s artistic vision of a moon’s near-future colony. All in all, I recommend this game.
The Crust Direct Play:
It’s a solid colony sim, and what it does, it does well. It actually feels like what early access should be: the last mile for an indie studio, not a safety net for scope creep and broken promises. It’s simply a good colony builder, nothing more, nothing less, and I appreciate it for that and am having fun with it. I am following this game already since the very first demo before even the alpha launched. Since then i have played various versions of the game. I have to admit, that the devs listened very carefully to the feedback of all the testers and already deliver in this early access a very nice “automation” game. It is definetly one of my highlights of this year. I will definetly sink far more hours in the EA version now. All until now was giving me an extremly good experience. The colonist portion of the game still has some room for improvement, especially as some building mechanics here feel unintuitive.
