Return to the world of NEKO-NIN exHeart in this latest release by developer, Whirlpool! While it’s not necessary to enjoy NEKO-NIN exHeart SPIN!, we do suggest checking out the rest of the games in the NEKO-NIN exHeart series. Nin! Our hero, Makibishi Kikumaru, has spent his fairly ordinary life so far in the company of his suspiciously tanuki-faced family, his younger sister and their grandfather. His life takes a turn, though, when his grandfather tragically passes away and a catgirl in weird clothes storms the funeral vigil and lets loose a hail of bullets. At this, his tanuki-faced little sister morphs into a tanuki-eared ninja girl. Our hero is frozen by the sudden strange sequence of events, but a beautiful woman with cat ears comes their rescue. “My name is Touka.” “And as for you, Makibishi—or rather, Saiga Kikumaru—I am your protector.” Welcome to your new life, Kikumaru.

Character art is once again by the excellent Takano Yuki. I believe all of the paper-doll art is reused from the previous game, and there seem to be fewer fancy animations and effects, but the game includes CG image sequences focused on Nachi that are new to this title. Even better for adult readers, and unlike with the first game, the R18+ patch is free! Every one of the main travelers has something to love about them, and even the side characters have so much life to them. The combat is fun and engaging, and they work the story into the combat in ways that made my jaw drop every time. I would recommend it to anyone, because I believe that it’s a story that everyone should experience, but I would especially recommend it if you like turn-based RPGs.
