Haven’t seen anything else like it, and the integration feels like it just makes sense, rather than being forced Gameplay loop with either Slay-the-Spire type split road map, or a separate roguelike style game mode that will make you feel right at home.
The enemy path, resources, perks, and even the enemies you are facing are randomized. Learn your enemies weaknesses, and react by building the perfect defensive setup, or use your rune powers if you are in a bind! Visually pleasing. vibrant color scheme. Reminds me of strategy games of old like Age of Empires and Warcraft. Not everything needs to be dark and edgy. STATS, TONS OF STATS. Being able to have real-time information on the tower and upgrade choices you make is extremely engaging. allowing you to mold your strategies. Adding items to towers. This greatly increases repeatability and exponentially increases possible builds. There are some super rare combinations that make you feel like you hit Exodia. -Economy system. You can take an aggressive strategy and spend all your resources as you get them, or try to complete the rounds as lean as possible to generate interest to allow you to have a stronger late game.

There are a variety of upgrades you can pick throughout each run. Perks modify a specific tower type, items enhance a single tower, and Relics which are global modifiers drastically changing the way each run is played. Do you make one super tower? Or spread the perks across many different towers? -Affinity system. You can either try to go for vertical affinity on one specific tower type or go for a very well rounded build depending on how the rolls fall. Both options feel rewarding if you prepare correctly. In the tower defense genre, this is an easy 9/10 on release day. Runeroots finds its own unique place in a time-tested genre with the new system introductions. Would recommend this game to all tower defense enjoyers as well as people coming from auto chess or RTS games. A fantastic TD game with a fun rouge twist. RuneRoots fills a nice niche by having a system that feel like there is always something new to learn but also a casual game pace. Perfect for after a stressful day of work or a Multi-hour gaming session.
