If you like to meet fun but complex characters like the naam, who see life in a different way with their own beliefs and traditions. Then Creatures of Ava may be a game for you. Creatures of Ava is a cute and colorful creature-collector with four distinct biomes, over 20 tamable life forms, and interesting Metroidvania-esque level designs. It also packs a lot more narrative punch than I was originally expecting, given its cuddly critters and relaxing, flute-heavy soundtrack. You’ll play as Victoria Hamilton, a naive yet empathetic young explorer sent to planet Ava on a conservation rescue mission to save Ava’s myriad organisms from “the Withering,” a mysterious ailment that corrupts all it touches. Or so you’re led to believe by your employer, the Aleph Corporation, and lab partner/love interest(?), Tabitha. After a bumpy landing on Ava and a traumatic flashback about her parents, Vic encounters the indigenous and genderless Naam people (or “the Breads” as my naan-obsessed wife kept calling them).
