“Homeless” is a psychological horror game where you play as a man named Albert, a night shift security guard at a Brooklyn subway station. While checking the security cameras, Albert notices a strange figure lurking in the restricted railway are a skinny man in dirty clothes, oddly Tall! Initially, Albert thinks he’s dealing with a harmless and vulnerable homeless person, as usual. But as he uncovers the person’s crimes, he realizes he’s in for a night of madness. This man intends to challenge your beliefs with his bizarre handwritten notes and shatter your sanity. In this nightmare night, as you pass through the darkness, he’s probably lying in wait there, staring at you! You must be careful not to become his prey Homeless is a dark psychological horror game set in the gritty neighborhoods of 1990s New York City. The game utilizes the Unreal Engine 5 to create a realistic and immersive atmosphere, capturing the essence of a terrifying night.
The gameplay emphasizes the player’s sense of responsibility as a security guard. The level design is intended to make the player feel like a real security guard. You’ll need to check CCTV, patrol the area, and investigate suspicious activity like a real security guard. This game focuses on a simple but stressful story rather than complex and and tedious mechanics. Gameplay mechanics include exploration, crime scene investigation, puzzle-solving, and, in some instances, gunplay. I finished the game with 2.1 hours playtime. Im marking this my favorite horror game of the year so far, because everything is so incredible. It combines cyberpunk and horror which blend together perfectly with the photorealistic graphics and amazingly designed levels. 10/10 Not a bad game overall. The graphics are very nice, and I rather enjoyed the general level design. There are certainly overused assets, which did take away from it a bit.
Homeless Direct Play:
The game has a few bugs here and there, one of which was a trigger that made progression impossible, so I had to restart from a previous save. But the saves are common enough that it only took a few minutes to get back to where I was. The developers also seem to be pushing out updates(although without patch notes), and so the bugs aren’t a big concern for me. The game description and trailer is a little off to me – it’s more of a horror walking simulator than anything. You’re not doing any hiding or sneaking in this game. I’d put the mechanics, gameplay, and functionality above that of a free itch.io game, and the graphics are quite nice. Combined that makes it worth it to me.
