POPGOES is an official Five Nights at Freddy’s spinoff series, produced by Scott Cawthon and developed by fans as part of the “Fazbear Fanverse Initiative”. myPOPGOES is a short and simple resource management minigame, where you take care of an extremely needy weasel named Popgoes. Housed in an adorable plastic LCD toy, your new pixelated best friend will need pizza, fizzy drinks, and only the best entertainment provided by Freddy Fazbear himself. And if Popgoes doesn’t receive what he desperately needs, he passes out. Or maybe he straight up dies. Up to your imagination. Simple but quite addictive “survival” gameplay, with super minimalistic controls! Lots of familiar faces from the POPGOES and Five Nights at Freddy’s game series! A nostalgic theme, with practically all gameplay happening in a 2000s plastic LCD toy! Playable challenges in the base game style, like the Sticky, Expire, and Blind modes! Entirely new minigames, like Longest Popgoes, Fishing, and Topping Juggle! Unlockable playable characters, stickers, character sheets, diary entries, and more!
And don’t be misled by this game’s surreal premise and its modest gameplay – it is a canon entry in the POPGOES timeline, with real lore implications, unlockable character information, and plenty of interesting story tidbits! If you’re a fan of the POPGOES series, then give it a go! I had a really wonderful time with this game. Although its price tag might seem a bit steep for the playtime you get out of it, I felt that it was exceptionally polished in both its presentation and variety. I feel I must give two warnings about it, however. The first is that I believe that you need to be curious to learn more about the Popgoes universe than what is currently known about POPGOES Evergreen and what is shown in POPGOES Arcade. Most of the rewards in this game contribute greatly to the worldbuilding of this new story, so if you’re nit interested in that, I recommend you turn away.
myPOPGOES Direct Play:
Second is the difficulty. The game is fairly difficult at the time of my writing, but steps are being taken to address them including a full reprogramming of the game that will tighten up resource management and replace two notably frustrating bonus modes. If you’re okay with a little frustration, I say go on ahead and enjoy yourself. If not, wishlist it for now and keep a close eye on the patch notes. All in all though, this game is a nice little treat for Popgoes dorks like me, so whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the series or are looking to brush up on your lore leading up to Popgoes Evergreen, I think you’ll have a wonderful time with myPOPGOES. It consists of a main campaign of five short days, where you need to keep your little digital Popgoes fed, hydrated and entertained. Each day will have Popgoes’ needs drain quicker, forcing you to make snappier and wiser decisions on the fly. There are also additional challenges you can try out, as well as some fun minigames that are separate from the campaign.
