A Struggle with Sin is the story of a fantasy world in the midst of a civil war. Rising taxes and raids by orcs and bandits make each villager act according to their own needs first. Will you become like the others in this corrupt society? Or will you stay true to yourself and find a way out of the chaos that surrounds you? The loyalist members of the Trader Emergency Coalition adopt a policy of isolation, focusing on enhanced defenses to ride out the rest of the war. Those who rebel against the coalition take on a purely militant view, coming to the opinion that the only way to bring peace is by ultimately crushing all who oppose them – especially xenos. For the first time in their history, the war creates a schism in the Advent Unity. The loyalists seek to continue their policy of revenge against the Traders, and to assimilate all others to the Unity’s influence. However, others amongst the Advent suspect that a corrupting influence from within has diverted the Unity from its proper destiny. There are a whole lot of characters and most have their unique personalities/backgrounds and paths to complete. The problem with this game is that you’d really need a walkthrough/guide to make the most out of it because this is a complex game. This is a grinding game especially at the very start. Leveling up is tiring early on but the points you earn are needed because they make your gameplay less grindy. That’s why you need a guide so you don’t have to waste in leveling stats that you don’t need for the time being.
You also have to manage hunger and income. Combat is done solo early on before you could actually have two characters joining your party. BUT unlike so many happy brainless (and ultimately boring) harem games here, there is an actual sense of danger in a nasty but living and breathing world that boosts the narrative above and beyond most games you will play here. Still has a lot to give. Really hopeful that this game doesn’t get abandoned because the plot hasn’t got to the grand scheme yet but it’s already full of events even in just one region. There’s tons of fucking around but it’s not just that. This feels like a proper rpg with farming/hunting/crafting and some other stuff involved. And the branching paths are thought-out between love/corruption and the optional NTR. Your choices and actions have real impact on how you want your harem to be.
