Abandoned Souls is a realistic horror game created in the style of found footage. The player takes on the role of a video blogger, Tim, who loves to explore abandoned places. This time Tim sets off to explore an old abandoned hospital in the midst of a deep forest, to capture exclusive footage for his viewers. Rumor has it the hospital was somehow connected to a case of disappearances in the area in 1985. This was a decent horror experience for those looking for a short playthrough. The puzzles are not complicated at all and the story was pretty unique, though predictable at the halfway point. As always when it comes to first-person horror games, the main gameplay involves advancing slowly forward and soaking in the mood created by the game. There are no logical puzzles in this game The left mouse button is used for interaction.
When the tiny dot in the center of the screen hovers over a subject of interest, it transforms into a small circle. This can be difficult to notice, especially if you have your flashlight on. On the other hand, there aren’t many objects with which you can interact. You’ll find a few notes and possibly an item or two required to open things. Graphics are the biggest selling point. While the place you’re exploring is nearly a horror game cliché, I was continually on the edge as I moved ahead into the darkness. True, you start with a flashlight, but it quickly breaks. This means you must rely on your eyes and can only see a few feet ahead of you.

Optimization is fine. The first area has some typical issues, such as invisible barriers and small things you can’t walk over, but you only spend a brief time there, so it’s not a major problem. The game uses a blurry camera to create an excellent mood. When you combine that with equally impressive sound, you get an intriguing experience. There’s always something rustling in the dark, a door creaking, strange sounds, and so on. Nothing is going to kill you, so poke your nose anywhere you like. Although the game takes up a lot of hard drive space, there isn’t much content.
