About The Game
In Airships: Conquer the Skies you’ll need to use all of your creativity and skill to design and build fearsome airships and land vehicles to give you the edge in massive aerial battles. Construct your vehicles by piecing together a vast array of modules, choosing weapons, armour types, structures, equipment and resources in near endless configurations to allow you to prevail against even the toughest foes. The vehicles are highly detailed, teeming with sailors moving around performing their individual tasks to stay in the fight. Your choices of vehicle layouts are crucial, exploring the design space of different crafts and their matching tactics to make sure your fleet emerges victorious. Once your vehicles are ready for the fight, you’ll give high-level commands to your small fleet, swooping, soaring, ramming and boarding others to gain the upper hand in battle. Ships and terrain are fully destructible: they can catch fire, explode, break apart, and fall, so you’ll need to choose your tactics wisely.
Your first few games of Conquest will be you getting steamrolled, but slowly you learn the game, and something clicks. You learn how to design ships, fleet tactics, etc. You start a new game of Conquest, expecting to get crushed again. You capture some territory with your newly designed ships, research some tech, as your opponents do the same. Victories are small, defeats are crushing. Eventually, you own half the map, and one of the enemy factions has captured every piece of territory that isn’t yours. It’s just you and them. You build newer ships with the tech you just researched to counter the enemy’s ships. Many games have ended here, as your designs are either too expensive, too heavy or too weak to effectively keep the enemy at bay. But this time is different.
You build up your forces, mass producing your new designs, and once you have enough, you press the attack. You completely steamroll the enemy the first battle, then the next, then the next. Your new design performs excellently, after fixing a few of it’s issues. You pull in victory after victory, Now owning about 2/3 of the map, having almost the entire tech tree researched, and so much money you barely know what to do with it, you design bigger and bigger ships, costing upward of 10,000 each, mass producing them. Your momentum is unstoppable, most cities surrendering the second they lay eyes on your massive fleet. You now own almost the entire map, except for one city.
The enemy’s capital. You move every single unit you have to the enemy’s gate, and begin the assault. The clouds turn black with smoke, the ground covered in complete shadow due to the massive ships looming above, the sky completely filled with hundreds of cannonballs, suspendium bolts, and guided missiles, barely able to hear anything because of the orchestra of explosions and cannon fire. The first enemy guard tower collapses, turned into a flaming pincushion due to the sheer volume of fire. The second goes down a few seconds later, almost vanishing as it’s rendered into nothing but shrapnel. The third is slightly more durable, but it too falls after an exchange of fire. You’ve captured the enemy’s capital without losing a single ship. The enemy’s defeat is assured.
