Ann will slash, shoot, combo, grenade-throw & ground-pound her way through hordes of enemies and huge bosses. From great swords to double blades, from pistols to rocket launchers and uppercuts, time to become the one-girl army you always knew you had in you.
A grand story, befitting a rich and dark cyberpunk décor, featuring our main hero Ann Flores and her trusty hyper hacker side-kick Ayane on a personal mission to find out where her missing brother has gone to. Little do the two know just what they will unravel Ann seems to be the classic cold girl with a tragic past who is forced to live with her disease. She doesn’t talk much, so it’s really difficult to empathize with her. Most of Ann’s dialogue lines are questions and she ends up being rather confused by the answers, but still obeys what everyone tells her to do. Not a good characterization per se, which is why it’s impossible to feel attached to her. The supporting character, Ayane, is the stereotype of an anime girl, often hinting at a possible lesbian relationship with Ann. Her characterization is slightly better, but can be rather annoying with her silly jokes and persistent provocations. The voice acting is good for the most part, yet many times what’s being spoken doesn’t match up with the subtitles on-screen. The writing itself isn’t that great and a lot of conversations feel forced, with many characters appearing without context.

The story takes place in different city hubs you move through using your flying car. They look quite big on the map, but small during exploration. Each one has a few explorable interiors and streets, which are then blocked by some virtual barriers. There are multiple side-quests and some can be quite interesting too, like the one that will see you collaborating with the police to investigate a mysterious murder in your condo. Other appreciated extras include random events and cool mini-games such as bartending and hacking. While the first hours will see you moving through these beautiful cities, filled with neon-lit buildings, noisy traffic and crowds of NPCs, most of the combat will take place inside linear 2D dungeons that unfortunately don’t share the same quality.
