Play as Rai Reysend and his companions through a series of comical events and epic battles to reveal the mystery of the cosmic barriers that were created after a meteor shower. Will you be able to save the land and uncover the truth? Not much of a review but I’d like to say that this is a work of love and this definitely scratches the need for something similar to SMRPG but new and fresh in its own way. The gameplay in the beginning is simple but precise and neat; it is not overly complicated. The environment is rich with textures and colors and the timing system is definitely fun. The music is cartoony and playful but that is not a bad thing at all. So far I recommend the game and I hope that a lot of people buy this game. Good job Dragon Vein, you have taken a step towards great things as an indie game studio. So, if you are a fan of Mario RPG, this is the game for you.
It is quite challenging, in a good way, learning the timing for the enemy attacks is key on bigger battles against bosses, but is extremely rewarding once you get those timings down. Really reminds me of old school jrpgs (which is very much the point), and anyone who grew up on these kind of games should give Another Crusade a shot. The gameplay is challenging, but in a way that’s fair. I did a few bosses between the main game and the demo and while I did fail each one at once, it wasn’t from lack of grinding but my own skills. I did great grind a bit because every level makes a difference, but it’s a good balance. The “Mario RPG” style of pressing buttons to attack works well. The isomeric look can be a bit annoying to tell distance, but it works. It looks great! The art style has a few rough parts, but when I look forward to new enemies just to see how they will look in the wooden doll art style, it’s a success.

I felt no investment in the world, so I decided to refund it. A good game can get away with an underwhelming or slow story, but this is an RPG and good storytelling is part of the experience. I would highly recommend everyone interested to play the demo (assuming they haven’t removed it) because it’s a good representation of the game. If all you want is the core gameplay, it’s worth playing. That’s why I’m leaving it as a positive, but I feel this game isn’t for me more so than feeling this is a bad game. If you’re looking for a game in the same style as SMRPG, you’re in the right place. The combat is almost 1:1 with it, and functions very well for it, as is the in level navigation. It makes use of the timing system for attacks and blocks, though it does seem to be pretty balanced around active use of this. If you disregard timing anything, you’re probably going to be in for a rough time. But, if you’re struggling with getting good timing, you get a spell pretty early on that widens your timing windows to make it waaaay easier.
