Army Men RTS brings you back to the days of staging battles with tiny plastic soldiers in your backyard…except these green soldiers carry out your every command! Collect resources and build bases, vehicles, and entire platoons before the Tans can retaliate! The fun is fast and furious in this in-depth, pick-up-and-play battle! When I was young me and my father would play this on the GameCube (this was before my parents divorced and before seeing my dad was a rare occurrence). We never finished the game because a freak power outage caused our GC to short-circuit and break, but a few years ago I found the game in a box in our garage. Sadly it didn’t work due to all the damage it took while in storage, but now I find it again on Steam of all places? HELL YEAH! Love this game and can’t wait to finally beat it!
FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE RUNNING THE GAME: go to the games directory, find the .exe file for it, its called amrts. next, right click it, go to properties, and go to the compatibility section, run it in compatibility with windows 7 or windows 8, then try and run it from the exe, NOT from steam. if that doesn’t work, try again but run it as administrator. In the build up phase you work against the constraints of industry, policy and politics as you try to build up forces sufficient to carry out the strategy you’ve decided upon – whilst simultaneously trying to ascertain the strategy of your opponents and attempting to hide yours from the enemy. Who are the most powerful faction in the long run – are constrained by a population that is unwilling to go to war and have to work around various debuffs that are reduced by an increasing ‘world tension’ mechanic. Their opponents meanwhile are free to act, build and annex to their liking. However, the more aggressive they are the more they will increase the ‘world tension’ – thus empowering their opponents. When war finally breaks out you are presented with one of the most interesting strategic puzzles that you can get in the entire world of video games. You have to manage your own logistics whilst trying to destroy those of the enemy. You will have to maintain your industry and production lines whilst trying to bomb those of your enemy into oblivion. Air, land and sea are all present and there is no single winning strategy for any of them. As daunting as this all may sound the game does a great job of automating and assisting with many aspects of the actual gameplay
