Don’t get lost! Many animals live in the dark dungeons beneath the world. You will encounter colorful friends and deadly foes! When you aren’t putting your life in danger, you will use the resources you have gathered to upgrade your town! By organizing the perfect town, you will restore the world of Orderia and rescue the animals who live there! Your progress in the overworld unlocks new content but it won’t give you any unfair advantages on a trip into the dungeons. Explore an infinite number of randomly generated dungeons with your fluffy mouse hero. Each level you encounter might have special encounters or even challenges that you couldn’t have possibly predicted. You’ll also engage in combat with over 40 unique enemy types that have complex attack patterns, and meet many friendly animal characters who now call the dungeon you’re exploring home.

Jack & Casey is a game I backed ages ago (it died in development after getting huge funding), which had the same grid based inventory management system idea, but it was pretty different, with crafting, real time combat, and a megaman battle network style powerup system. THE GAME IS GREAT, if you haven’t already I highly suggest you go play the free demo for the game, if you liked this game you really have to try J&C. But having Backpack Hero knock it out of the park where Jack and Casey struck out is a huge win, I am chomping at the bit to see the full release of this game. Items will combo with each others depending on their adjacency, which add even more (good) complexity to the inventory management as you really try to make the most optimized build! Fortunately the tooltips are here to tell you the actual effects so you can check whether your new item placement is better than the previous one. There are tons of items which means tons of build potential, and even if some are bit more complex than others, all seems really interesting and powerful.
