Banchou Tactics is a strategy turn based role-playing game in the Japanese Gangster High School (Banchou). Game inspire by Crows (Japanese Manga) River City Ransom and Final Fantasy Tactics. For several years of conflicts, there were bloody struggles between three high schools around this area (somewhere in Japan). This madness played by the three schools: Sakae High School, Nakamura Technical High School and Minato High School. They engaged in many fierce battles with the aim to show who’s boss in this town. When Kitagawa Seiichi, the demon king of Minato High School just graduated last year, all the balance of three power came to doubt once again. The game is set in Minato High School The story focuses on TAIGA ARASHI. From a mechanical standpoint, Banchou Tactics is exactly the serviceable if unspectacular sort of strategy RPG you’d expect from a Flyhigh Works published game, only even more so.
It’s really, really basic, to the point it would be tough to recommend to someone who is simply in the market for a good tactical game. The tilt factor here comes entirely from the game’s gnarly bancho theme, which has been handled with some real enthusiasm. The writing doesn’t have quite the verve of the Downtown Nekketsu series, but it comes pretty close at times and your bros all wind up being reasonably endearing. The 2.5D spritework deserves special mention for striking the right balance of retro-but-not-too-retro and does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to instilling the game with that all-important yankii attitude it needs to succeed.

I’m such a sucker for this kind of thing that all I truly needed out of Banchou Tactics was turn based rumbles between surly schoolboys with pompadours so sweet that the American Dental Association is currently drafting a sternly worded letter to the devs, and it delivered that for sure, so I’m a pretty happy camper. Fun gameplay so far. I’ve been having issues with Fight Club Prologue Basic NPCs freezing my game when they take actions. After doing the challenge a few times so it’s hard to complete because of this. Hope this gets fixed. Gameplay is good and engaging so it makes you think hard about positioning, what your character excels at, and I’m loving the blood type rock paper scissors idea.
