With that aside, this is exactly what I was looking for in a Battletoads remake. It takes a little while to pick up speed, but is actually downright hilarious at times in its self-aware assessment of a series that hasn’t seen a release in two and a half decades. The combat isn’t quite as fleshed out or as satisfying as it good be, but the game is primarily a series of varied minigames, so nothing overstays its welcome. Likewise, there are generous checkpoints/autosave positions and other such mechanisms to keep things from getting too repetitive and frustrating. It’s an entertaining trip down memory lane for those who enjoyed (or suffered through?) the original games.
If u r not a gaming nerd or a serious old-school gamer do not think about to play this game normal or hard difficulties. I’ve played it on easy and finished the game with some fun moments but the challenge feel gone. It’s more like an animation with some cool ideas and jokes. Do not expect a 2D beat ’em up game experience; vehicle, puzzle and platform parts everywhere with long cutscenes. Deserve to buy when it’s on sale and give it a shot for 4-5 hours to finish the experience. Do not wait for something big or magical; try to have some fun, I’m disappointed a bit but glad to experience it anyway. It’s a flop but it flopped for valid reasons. Created for the wrong demographic and was not faithful to it’s source material. Still a very fun sh1tpost to experience, only recommend getting it when it’s on sale for $5. Makes a good torture game for friends too with it’s minigames. In another world where this was a good game, it would’ve been: Beat Em Up focused- no other genres besides the obvious like the hoverbike levels.
