About The Game
Block’Em! is an action-filled block-building party game for 2 to 4 players! The controls are simple but the road to victory is complex. Be the first to reach the goal or be the last Blocky standing! Cute, addictive and fast paced party game to be enjoyed by 2-4 players. Outsmarting your opponent with cunning moves is easier said than done! Simple competitive game for 1-4 players, the CPU can subsitute missing players. The player who first wins 5 minigames wins the game. The minigames, all taking place on one shared screen,
Can be a race to reach a certain point first, a last man standing game with lava slowly filling the level or a minigame to build the most blocks. All these minigames challenge your ability to place blocks fast and at a place where you want them to be, the level layout is always a bit different. Environmental dangers kill you instantly, you can jump, run, or just push your rivals. You can place blocks and climb on them, and you can remove your own or your opponent’s blocks. You can construct stairs, bridges, or destroy your rivals constructions to hinder them. Game can be played local or online. The AI is not very bright, but the game can be quite funny (and chaotic) with friends. Rounds are rather short. Gamepad(s) supported.
Block’Em Direct Download:
The cartoonish, low detail pastel-colored art style is consistent and coherent. It works for the simple game. Sound & music are serviceable as well, combining together to make a cute but not all that impressive game. Resolution seems to scale appropriately but I didn’t have the opportunity to test on a 4k display. There are a variety of types of rounds. Many rounds involve getting to a goal first. Others involve surviving the longest. These maps are seemingly random enough to not be overly exploitable. The controls are a bit loose, though. When you’ve won, you feel like you’ve earned it. When you’ve lost, there’s a slight feeling of the controls failing you. The playerbase had 7 players across 2 games when I tried playing, and this is during a free weekend around launch. At least two players are necessary to play. Bots might need to be introduced for this game to be sustainable. Otherwise, you’ll be paying $13.98 for 2 copies to bring your own friend along.
