It is a couch battler, ala Smash Brothers, and doesn’t try to be anything else. Unlike Smash Brothers and most other games in the genre, it doesn’t try at all to confine you, in fact, it tries to enable you to break the game.
With modular power sets, multiple abilities, and combos and ability interactions abound all across the board in both expected and sometimes unexpected ways, the game invites you to sit down with some friends and duke it out without caring too much about the result. It’s a PVP game that doesn’t try to be competitive, it’s not about the win, it’s about playing the game itself and having fun with it. A serious breath of fresh air in a genre choking on its cameo-focused fighter games and esports. One of the best, wackiest, and funniest party brawlers out there! Perfect to play with your friends online or IRL in the same room! The game lets you choose between a bunch of abilities that kills your fellow blobs, completely transforms the map, or kills your fellow blobs by transforming the map. Most abilities directly or indirectly interact with all other objects in the world, and you can come up with pretty creative ways to turn your friends into colorful splats on the walls. It’s a wonderful chaotic fight to the last drop of blob splatter.

This is an awesome little brawler of a game that’s begging for some variety within game modes or level modifiers. I’d love to see particularly a power draft mode where you pass a “hand” of powers around to your neighbors as they do the same. Also could be cool to see each power have an “improved” version that can be accessed somehow. Maybe losing a match gives you that. Bigger black holes, faster shooting growth ray etc. Def worth your dollar though and if you’re not sure just grab the demo! Bopl is an outstanding game which is very entertaining, all the abilities pair well with each other and the game is overall fast paced, it makes for a great party game as it gets chaotic quickly, There a vast difference in strategy from a standard 1v1 to a 1v1v1v1 or a 2v2, Each element of the game is insanely well executed, from the art, sounds, music, abilities, and gameplay, it is a great way to have fun with friends, especially as a sort of party game.
