Since I already played through the Genesis version multiple times there’s quite some nostalgia with this. But apart from that it is a nice, solid platformer and a worthy remake of the original. Experienced or even mediocre players won’t find a real challenge, but beginners, younger players and the occasional casual gamer will have fun with it. Difficulty scales quite nicely with a literally non-challenging first stage to a sometimes rather tricky final stage. Boss balancing is a bit odd since I had more troubles with the third boss than with the fifth.
