Set in an alternate present-day Seattle where humans, orcs, elves, and other races have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Explore the world through the stories told by your customers one cup at a time.
Meet quirky and interesting characters, such as; Baileys the elf freelance graphic designer, Lua, the succubus bisdev executive, Myrtle the orc game developer, and more. Listen to their stories and influence them with a warm drink or two! I’ve played the first one and I’m still in the middle of this one. There’s just something special with Coffee Talk that’s hard to put words on it. Toge Productions really managed to make the comfortable vibes of a coffee bar feel so real. The character writing is phenomenal, to where they just… feel like actual people. People with their own history, emotions, personality, desires, experiences. To me, the original Coffee Talk felt so far ahead of its visual novel contemporaries in terms of story and character development. It was hard to imagine that I could get as invested, or let alone more invested, in what followed from the first game.

And I won’t lie, part of that doubt did come from the untimely passing away of the beloved series’ creator,. His design and writing, as far as I’m aware, played an enormous role in why Coffee Talk looked and felt so unique in the first place. Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is an amazing continuation that fluidly builds on stories from the old game while also weaving new ones with novel characters and fantastic designs for them, to boot. The new mechanics introduced for coffee-making AND storytelling are one-of-a-kind, something that I didn’t even think of as a possibility yet felt so incredibly seamless and natural upon my first impressions of them. I loved the first Coffee Talk and this one just took everything that I loved and made it bigger and better.
