I came to Control after playing Alan Wake 2, to see what all the crazy FBC stuff was about- I have never felt more contrasting emotions after starting and finishing a game. Initially I was hesitant of the difficult gameplay, and the story direction was interesting but the collectables format combined with Jesse’s self aware secret keeping frustrated me, especially given the instantly story packed AW2 experience. However much like the Oldest Houses mold problem, the game grows on you. After unlocking more combat abilities, the mechanics make for a super fun and rewarding experience, especially the further along you play. Tearing up the scenery (literally) never gets old! Admittedly some aspects and bosses were tough with a capital T, but the alluring plot captivated me and motivated me to do anything to complete the story to figure out just what the hell is going on.
