Shape the fate of two nations in Cross Tails, where captivating storytelling meets intense tactical combat! Class Changes: Total of 24 types of classes + fixed class for every main character. Each character can have a main job and a sub class. Skill Tree: All the 24 jobs have a skill tree where skills can be learned or strengthened. Passive Equipment: Passive skills learned in the skill tree can be equipped. The available equippable slots increase as characters increase their level. Equipment Upgrade: Weapons and armor can be upgraded by attaching rune stones that grant magic effects. Faith: Different faiths, from the deity of war to the deity of business, can be selected to add bonus values to stats or special abilities. You can play until the end of Chapter 6 of the ‘Republic of Hidiq’ Story. You cannot select ‘Free Battles’ except for the main story. You can select the level of difficulty to play. Save data cannot be carried over to the full version of the game.

It also has a significant QoL change that’s missing in most older tactics JRPGs—a faster pace from streamlined leveling. In this game, as opposed to Mercenaries Blaze/Rebirth for example, you don’t need to perform superfluous actions to “bring weaker units up to speed”. There is a partially-shared exp system that reduces the need for such actions and allows the player to just keep playing through free battles and story missions in a more fluid way. The game has a catchy tunes! I could hear a bit of Egyptian-ish music in one of the stories. There was also some awesome bagpipe and violin action which I really liked. I’m a bit sad I couldn’t get solid information on these tracks. I saw the R-word on one of the class skills and while it gave me a chuckle, it didn’t really fit as the name of a skill with the context of its description.
