About The Game
Crypto Miner Tycoon Simulator™ is a complete simulation of the cryptocurrency mining business. There are multiple scenarios available. In the first one, you start as a teenager whose wealthy father is hyped about digital currency. He isn’t really tech savvy, so he gives you some cash and challenges you to build a crypto mining business: The game uses real prices for coins, but your actions can change the course of history. For example, you can set up a PR department that will influence the media and hype some coins up or down. Crypto Miner Tycoon has far more depth then it looks at first glance. You buy all the major computer parts and build the PC’s to your desire. You have to research tech and learn skills, this allows you access to more parts, operating system, etc. You have to cool the computers and can expand your business. You hire employees and they can bring new skills and be taught skills to help expand your capabilities. Overall I am very impressed with this game so far, and coming from Bigosaur, who made one of my favorite indie games, Son of a Witch, I expect them to keep expanding and adding more content to the game as time allows.
Crypto Miner Tycoon goes far more in-depth than it looks. You have scenarios where you start differently (different year, money, scenario goal, etc.). You have to research tech and learn skills, this allows you access to more parts, operating systems, etc. But you can’t research it all by yourself, so you need to hire employees with specific skills, that will help you achieve what you want. It is an awesome feeling starting with 20K USD and ending the scenario with millions of USD. Also, you need to be aware of the dust and cooling of your computers, otherwise, they will break more quickly (That is also awesome detail I like). The game also follows real Crypto prices so you can kinda search real price at a certain date and see if you should buy/hodl/sell (I wouldn’t call it cheating, just using the game realism.
I was looking forward to this game. And it’s actually alright, It’s quite in-depth and has quite a few cool elements. For example building PCs is fun. But the whole game feels a bit too clicky. There’s a lot of clicking everywhere. It doesn’t feel intuitive when I have to keep relocating the main character between his bedroom and rented out mining room to make some change. A lot of clicking everywhere. Also, I couldn’t really see an edit button? So when something new launches I can’t just edit systems, I need to sell them and build new ones (unless editing is a thing and I just didn’t see the option to do it). Building racks also takes a lot of clicking and dragging. And I get it, when I’m not building, I’m staring at the bitcoin price stats, so there is technically quite little to do in this game. It’s fun for a bit, but I don’t know if that justifies the price.
